SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CUSO Financial Services, LP (CFS), a full-service brokerage firm and registered financial advisor providing investment and insurance services to the credit union industry, has been chosen by University Credit Union (UCU) in Los Angeles to provide its membership with investment program services. The program will be a managed program, where the financial advisors are employed and supervised by CFS, but work inside the branches of UCU.
University Credit Union, with $570 million in assets, serves nearly 34,000 members in the Los Angeles area. Seventy percent of UCU's membership consists of employees, alumni and students from UCLA, Pepperdine, Mount St. Mary, Loyola Marymount, Loyola Law School, Otis College of Art and Design, and other universities in the greater metropolitan area. Members can also come from select employer groups such as J. Paul Getty Trust or West LA Veterans Association Medical Center.
In selecting CFS, Paul Yang, CEO of University Credit Union, was drawn to CFS's strong focus on personal interaction, cutting-edge technology and its excellent reputation within the credit union community. He knew the services offered would appeal to University CU's highly educated membership and chose the San Diego-based broker dealer for its ability to deliver personalized and family-like relationships focused on quality of service, which aligns with UCU very closely.
"CFS recognizes UCU's core value of responsibly assisting our members to achieve their financial dreams through passion, innovation, and empathy. They use superior technology and diagnostics, enabling us to run a variety of reports so we can manage our program with our members' wishes and needs in mind," Yang explained. "We are impressed with the depth of information CFS makes available to our members. As a result, they'll be better educated financially and better able to make confident investment decisions."
By partnering with CFS, UCU hopes to meet its members' increasingly complex financial needs. CFS provides a full-service experience and varied investment and insurance offerings, with no proprietary products to introduce bias. June Cachola, the CFS investment representative for UCU, also helps train and educate credit union staff on the products to build investment program referrals.
"We appreciate the confidence UCU and its management have placed in us as their investment program partner--not just as a vendor but as a true member of the team--so we are able to create customized, profitable programs that meet their needs and those of their members," said Valorie Seyfert, CEO at CFS. "With our advanced technology systems, we are changing the way advisors do business and the way credit unions look at their investment programs."
